After weeks and weeks of final placement, I took a trip home to escape planning lessons and marking books. It was so nice to be outside in daylight hours! South Cave has a gorgeous community allotment. It's huge so takes some looking after and my mum helps out some weekends. I try to take a visit whenever I'm home to see what's been planted and to find things to cook for dinner. Seeing things on my plate that have been grown ten minutes away makes me very happy.

travels
I got to spend 5 weeks in France teaching English. When I was not in school I explored, sat in the sunshine and tried to get through each day without making too many language fails. I didn't have my DSLR back then, so I took a simple disposable camera. Turns out Kodak never fails.
a little video about christmas day
Christmas Day Walk from Lucy Wilkinson on Vimeo.
I've wanted to make videos for a while now. This is my first.
Our Christmas day walk seemed like a good place to start. When I'm studying in Sheffield, the countryside seems too far away. When I'm at home, it's outside my front door. The hill at the back of my house gives a great view of South Cave, so we headed up there after our version of Christmas dinner. It was beautiful.
being home for christmas
Being home for Christmas was exactly what I needed. Time there is always peaceful and my mum has a way of sorting out things I've got going on like no one else. I also got my first commission. A local church needed photos for their website, so I took a few Christmassy ones for them. Christmas day itself was very low key this year, but that just made it more perfect. We spent time at church (Jesus is the reason for the season), cooked yummy food and then walked it off. Simple & perfect.
It has set me up nicely for the next term too, with final placement and everything that entails (mainly hard work). I'm excited to be back in Sheffield and to see what God has in store for 2012.
