Ladybower Adventures

On my return to Sheffield, my Dad came to visit me and we headed out to Ladybower Reservoir for a walk. We didn't get lost, it only rained a bit and our sandwiches remained relatively unsquished in our backpacks; all round success! It is so beautiful out there, I had to keep stopping to take it all in. We even spotted a Woodpecker. The company was pretty great too. The next trip is being planned.

The Poppy Field of La Rochelle

On one of mum's early morning strolls, she spotted this field of poppies. They were gorgeous, so she made sure to take my camera and I before we left. Flowers make me happy.

Île de Ré

We got the bus from La Rochelle to Île de Ré. Luckily, you can get on and off as many times as you like which meant optimum exploration of the island for us. It was a lovely, peaceful and beautiful place. There were flowers everywhere, which in my book made it a million times more gorgeous. Exploring sleepy towns and tiny markets and winding streets are definitely on my favourite things to do list.

La Rochelle: Early Morning Walking

One morning, Mum and I got up early to beat the heat and headed out from La Rochelle to walk along the sea front to a nearby town. It took us a few hours to go there and back (with a quick breakfast stop) and it was a lovely way to spend a morning. It was so nice to be able to laugh and talk and hypothesise and walk without any interruptions. My mum talks a lot of sense. Mum had already done a little exploring over the week so had a few things she wanted to show me. The butterfly field was a highlight. I always forget just how much I like walking. It's so hard to even remember what the outside world looks like when you're cooped up behind a computer screen writing essays and dissertations. Now it's all over, I plan to make full use of my freedom. Now Listening to: Daughter- Youth EP

La Rochelle Lovin'

I was invited to stay in La Rochelle again with my friend who is living there for the year. This time I took my mum, which was the best choice ever. After the stress of dissertation writing, the sun and the relaxation of La Rochelle was perfect. We spent the week strolling around the town, sitting in cafes, eating lovely food, listening to Ben Howard on repeat, walking along the sea front, watching sunsets, laughing A LOT and generally being more chilled than I can remember allowing myself to be in recent times. I got home and realised that I had taken nearly 1,000 photographs in a week. Oops. Here's the first batch. Now playing: Will Reagan In the Night Season
